Our principle
A film, not just a video
Your wedding film matters. There is no retouching and no second take: on your wedding day, the first take is the only take.
That is why it pays to trust people who know how to turn a wedding into a film: experience, an eye for the right frame, cinema-grade equipment and a story built with care.
Getting married in Perugia
The city of the Kiss
Perugia offers unforgettable views to those who marry in its streets. The old town combines the weight of history with the romance of a city long associated with the “Bacio”, the kiss. Many who once studied here come back, years later, to get married in the city where it all began.
If you marry in Perugia, we’ll take you to the most striking corners and the hidden lanes where your film finds a character all of its own. And if the celebration is in the hills around the city, among historic villas and medieval villages, we know those too: we have filmed ceremonies in the Sala dei Notari of the Palazzo dei Priori and at the Tempio di Sant’Angelo, and receptions at Castello di Santa Petronilla and Villa Torranca.
The old town
Perugia’s old town in our films
The heart of the city is Piazza IV Novembre, home to the Fontana Maggiore, the Cathedral of San Lorenzo and the Palazzo dei Priori. Inside the palace, beneath the frescoed arches of the Sala dei Notari, Arturo & Susanna were married; as they came out, they were showered with rice on the steps.
At the top of Corso Garibaldi, among the cypresses, stands the Tempio di Sant’Angelo, a round church with ancient columns inside. This is where Simon & Giulia and Giada & Marco said their vows; in both films the drone finds its round stone walls among the cypresses.
Between one place and the next there are terraces above the rooftops, flights of stone steps and narrow lanes: a few minutes there are often enough for a scene that stays in the film.
Our eye
Why you can tell a film in seconds
Watching TV, we can tell within seconds whether we’re watching a film or a TV show, even with no technical training. Old-fashioned wedding videos often felt lifeless for exactly that reason: they followed the rules of television.
Cinema is something else: cinema cameras, professional lenses, a drone flown by a licensed pilot, and above all the choice of every frame, the rhythm of the edit and the music. That is how your wedding becomes a film you’ll watch for years.
The hills around the city
Many Perugia weddings begin in town and carry on just outside it, in the hills. These are the venues around the city where our films were made.
- Villa di Montefreddo, at Bagnaia: an avenue of cypresses, gardens among vineyards and olive groves, and rooms full of period detail, in the films of Edoardo & Gloria and Matilde & Federico.
- Borgo Colognola, at the foot of Mount Tezio: a restored medieval village with a courtyard, a panoramic terrace and olive groves, where Rune & Cecilia and Valerio & Maral were married.
- Castello di Santa Petronilla, the Neo-Gothic residence built by the painter Lemmo Rossi Scotti, where Arturo & Susanna and Simon & Giulia held their receptions.
- Villa Torranca, at Pianello, in the hills between Perugia and Assisi: stone-arched rooms and a garden lit up in the evening, in Giada & Marco’s film.
- A little further out, Castello di Rosciano at Torgiano, where Andrea & Chloe, Cathrin & Philip and Gianni & Sophie celebrated; in Assisi, Tenuta di San Masseo, facing the Basilica of Saint Francis; and the shores of Lake Trasimeno, less than an hour from our studio.
Light and seasons
Hilltop light, and a day of rain
Perugia sits on a hilltop, and in the late afternoon the light slides down into the valleys all around it. From late spring to September the evenings are long and warm; at the height of summer the midday heat makes a late-afternoon ceremony the better choice; in October come the grape harvest and mornings veiled in mist. Plan the day around the hour before sunset: in town the stone turns warm, and in the hills the light stretches out across the cypresses.
When it rains, the city simply becomes a different film. Arturo & Susanna were married on a rainy day, and in their film they share a clear umbrella by the Fontana Maggiore and in front of the Cathedral of San Lorenzo, while the steps of Piazza IV Novembre are wet with rain and the stone of the old town darkens all around them.
From abroad
Planning a Perugia wedding from abroad
Perugia is easy to reach and easy to plan from a distance. It has an airport of its own, served mostly by European flights; by car, Rome and Florence are each about two hours away, and Rome Fiumicino, the closest large international hub, about two and a half. Assisi, Todi, Spello and Montefalco lie within easy reach.
Cinemarry is Filippo and Fabio, two Umbrian filmmakers. We have been filming weddings since 2011, in English and in Italian, and we are members of ANV, Italy’s national association of videographers. If you live abroad, the planning happens remotely: video calls at times that suit you, messages on WhatsApp, replies within 48 hours, and a visit to your venue on your behalf, at the same hour as your ceremony, to see how the light falls.

With us
Your wedding day in Perugia, with us
Between the old town and the venues in the hills, a Perugia wedding day has its own geography. This is how we prepare for it.
01
We meet
In our studio at Ponte San Giovanni, by appointment, or on a video call: you tell us your story and what you hope to see in your film.
02
The plan
Timings, transfers between the city and the venue, your photographer and planner: we shape the day together and, when it helps, visit the places beforehand.
03
Getting ready
We usually begin in the morning, while you are both getting ready.
04
The ceremony
In a church, a historic hall or outdoors, we stay discreet and follow the guidance of your celebrant and the venue.
05
The celebration
From the reception to the dancing, we stay until the end and never ask you to pose; when the light allows, we steal a few minutes with the two of you in the lanes or among the hills.
06
The edit
A full-length film, and a trailer when included, with a structure, rhythm and soundtrack chosen for you.
Films shot around Perugia
Watch a film
Giada & Marco, from the Tempio di Sant’Angelo to Villa Torranca
The stone city seen from above, the walk out of the church to applause, a red and white vintage van parked in the fields and the vineyards at sunset; then the evening party at Villa Torranca, at Pianello, in the hills between Perugia and Assisi.
Civil and church weddings in Perugia
For a civil ceremony, alongside the City’s own halls, Perugia runs a dedicated project, «SpoSì a Perugia – Wedding in Perugia»: a list of historic venues where civil weddings are celebrated. Two of them are places we know well: Villa di Montefreddo, at Bagnaia, and Borgo Colognola, at the foot of Mount Tezio. The up-to-date list is published on the City of Perugia website, and the City also has a dedicated civil union service.
At the town hall, couples who don’t speak Italian need an interpreter, and the documents depend on your nationality: our guide Getting married in Umbria takes you through them, from the Certificate of No Impediment to the Atto Notorio, with links to the official sources. For a wedding for two, or with just a few guests, see eloping in Umbria.
In church, every parish has its own customs: we stay discreet and follow the celebrant’s guidance, from the first frame to the last.
What you receive, and when
At the centre of every collection is a film that tells your day from beginning to end, from the preparations to the party. A trailer, the short version of your day to share with everyone, is added when your package includes one: your quote sets out exactly which films you receive.
Format, length and delivery are chosen together in your quote, and that is also where we agree on delivery times, which depend on the format and the extras. Among the extras are the events of the days before and after, in a wedding weekend. Aerial footage is flown by a pilot with Italian ENAC certification, only where and when the rules allow. What shapes your proposal is explained in our guide to wedding videographer costs in Italy.
