Why Umbria
The green heart of Italy, an hour ahead of home
Umbria sits between Rome and Florence, with the hill towns, olive groves and vineyards that many couples picture when they think of Tuscany, and a quieter, more intimate feel. Assisi, Perugia, Todi, Spello and Montefalco are all within easy reach of one another. Perugia has its own airport, and Rome and Florence are about two hours away by car.
We are based in Perugia and have been filming weddings since 2011, for Italian couples and for couples travelling from the United Kingdom, Switzerland and the United States. With Italy just one hour ahead, a planning call fits easily into your evening.

Living abroad and not having easy access to get to the destination of our wedding it was imperative to us that the Cinemarry team could be flexible as to when and how to meet us, something they more than fully lived up to. The legal side
Register office at home, or the comune in Italy
There are two common routes, and we film both in exactly the same way.
Legal at home, celebration in Umbria. Some couples give notice of marriage at their local register office, marry legally in a short ceremony in the UK, then celebrate with a symbolic ceremony in Italy with family and friends. A symbolic ceremony has no legal effect in Italy, so it can take place wherever you like: a garden, a castle courtyard, a vineyard. Just the two of you? See eloping in Umbria.
Legal in Italy. Others marry at the comune with a civil ceremony, or in church with a religious ceremony that has civil effect. British nationals apply for a Certificate of No Impediment, the Italian «nulla osta», from the British Embassy in Rome, by post. In Perugia, if you don’t speak Italian, an interpreter must be present.

The day
From the vows to the wedding breakfast
A wedding in Umbria can keep every tradition you love from home. We film the ceremony, the drinks reception, the wedding breakfast with its speeches and toasts, the cake cutting and the first dance, and, in between, a few quiet minutes for the two of you in the evening light. Never posed.
In summer, ceremonies are often planned for late afternoon, after the heat of the day, so the wedding breakfast may begin later than you’re used to at home. We work out the programme with your planner and photographer, so that the speeches, the sunset and the first dance each have their moment.

Welcome drinks, wedding, farewell brunch
