Their day
Emanuele and Elena were married on Lake Trasimeno. Their film opens with a record spinning on a turntable and the needle dropping: from there the day unfolds like a song, from getting ready with friends to Elena smiling beneath her veil.
Emanuele dresses in braces and a bow tie by a window full of light. In Elena’s room the gown hangs against a striped wall, and her friends in sage-green satin raise a glass with her while she is still in her robe; among them is a young man in a green suit, a peacock brooch on his lapel.
The ceremony takes place in a richly decorated church: dark marble columns, gilded ornament, large paintings on the walls, wooden choir stalls and an aisle lined with white flowers and candles. From the dark interior, the open door frames a figure against the light, standing on the threshold; then Elena walks down the aisle as guests film her on their phones. Outside, with guests throwing handfuls over them and clouds of pink and white smoke rising, the couple kiss right in the middle of it, surrounded by guests and children.
Then the pier on the lake at sunset, with the water and the hills on the horizon. In the evening, tables glowing in the garden, the bouquet toss and live music late into the night.

Then the lake. The pier, with its white railings, reaches out over the lake; the sun goes down and Trasimeno turns smooth and rosy, the hills barely sketched on the horizon. Emanuele and Elena walk along the boards, hold each other and laugh, while the wind lifts the veil and wraps it around them. It is a light that lasts only a few minutes, and the film keeps it for the ending, their names in a corner of the frame.

The evening
Candelabra, speeches and live music
When darkness falls, the garden lights up. From above you see the illuminated paths between the trees and the swimming pool; at ground level the round tables are dressed in white beneath tall crystal candelabra, with a large globe of light hanging over the lawn. At the microphone a guest in blue reads her speech from her phone, while the friends in sage green listen with a smile.
Then the music: the band plays live under coloured lights, guests light sparklers, and Elena, in long lace sleeves trimmed with feathers, dances among her friends. The bouquet toss, the couple’s dance with foreheads touching, and the night carries on.
