A symbolic ceremony has no legal effect in Italy, so it can take place wherever you like: a garden, a castle courtyard, a vineyard. Just the two of you? British nationals apply for a Certificate of No Impediment, the Italian \u00abnulla osta\u00bb, from the British Embassy in Rome, by post.
